After
resting just a couple of hours on the plane, we arrived at Ouagadougou, wishing
breathe the smell of its streets and see the color of the earth, but at 5:00 in
the morning we could not discern these details. At the airport waited people
very dear to emsimision: Isaaka, Ezekiel, Lazarus, Jeremie, Yazón.
After
several weeks trying to get permits to carry out the health campaign this issue
was not yet settled on arrival to Ouaga. Immediately after settling in SIL I
received the notification that the president of the medical college (Professor
Tasopba) would receive us that morning. An hour and a half meeting with the
medical team, despite the tiredness after a busy night in Air Marroc, made us
all feel that the legal and formal aspects were consolidated.
God
is in control of everything and everyone.
Now
back to SIL, we load the vehicles all the necessary equipment to start work and
we go to the place where during ten days we will carry out the health campaign
and childhood education, the Acts Ministry facilities. On the way, our eyes
remained open despite the fatigue, watching every detail that could appreciate
our senses: smells difficult to distinguish, eyes of children hanging from the
backs of their mothers, and they were ashamed to see the color our pale skin,
noise sounds originated by people who work in the street incessantly day and
night.
At
arriving to Acts Ministry, children greeted us trying to touch our hands and
shouting "Nasara, Nasara, Nasara". The Church of Acts was the venue
for the presentation of equipment and work organization. Dr. Angel Olmo
explained that a puzzle, consists of many small parts, which can be fitted to
form a "whole", but if only one of them is missing, the puzzle is not
complete. Each one of us in the team this season, we are the puzzle pieces, and
none can be replaced or removed, but if we try to work together, we will finish
the puzzle.
The
whole team was able to finally meet the five places where there will be
different activities: church, school, vocational training, the orphanage, and
the clinic.
Our
surprise upon arrival was the news that not all material sent from Barcelona
had reached its destination. An ultrasound machine, an microscope and other
material, still travels somewhere unknown before reaching Ouaga. It is
certainly a major obstacle for the scheduled activity, but we continued with
the courage and the conviction to know that:
God
is in control of everything and everyone.
Each
team worked hard for hours so that tomorrow we can begin to treat patients, but
the truth is that the night was arriving and the exhaustion after spending the
previous night on the plane, prevented completion.
Tomorrow
morning we will continue with renewed vigor to prepare the facilities, our
business plan is to start our health atention at 10-11 am.
We
pray that we can rest, recharge for tomorrow, and find all the supplies that
still missing in the consultations.
Queridos hermanos y amigos,
Antonio
